On the bluffs overlooking the west bank of the Nile are the tombs of the governors of the province. Dating mainly from the Old and Middle Kingdom periods, they contain some fine painted decoration.

In the afternoon we headed back to Aswan by felluca for lunch and a stroll around the souk, the town's main shopping area. Let the buyer beware!

In the evening, we went to the Nubian Restaurant on one of the islands and were entertained by a troupe of musicians and dancers.
